NHL Standings 2012: Blue Jackets Guaranteed Last Place In League

The Columbus Blue Jackets have long known that they would end up in last place of the NHL thanks to a lackluster season.

Presswire

It's been a season to forget if you're a Columbus Blue Jackets fan. Not only are they the worst team in the league, but they are the worst team in the league by an embarrassing margin. With one game left to play, the Jackets have only managed to cobble together a meager 63 points on the year, even with a good 6-4 run in their last ten games that has dumped some extra points into their total.

The closest competitor for the last place position was the Edmonton Oilers, but they're 11 points ahead at this point. Montreal is 13 points ahead, for the second closest margin. At the very least, Jackets fans can rest easy knowing that they have, without a shadow of a doubt, the best draft pick chances of anyone in the league. They can most certainly use 'em.
