Blue Jackets Vs. Islanders Final: Columbus Explodes Offensively In 7-3 Route

The last place Columbus Blue Jackets simply refuse to let their 2011-12 season fade away without a fight, and lit the lamp seven times in a 7-3 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday.

Columbus exploded for four goals in the second period alone, and then added a pair over the final 20 minutes to complete a near-flawless offensive performance. Right winger Cam Atkinson netted his sixth and seventh goals of the year, and also chipped in an assist. Defender James Wisniewski also tallied three points on the game himself, with his lone goal coming with just 1:12 remaining in the second period.

Islanders goalie Al Montoya has now yielded at least four goals in a game in four of his last five starts for New York, and managed an extremely low 81.1% save percentage on the night after being peppered with 37 shots.
