Ohio State basketball is playing at a level few teams might be able to match. Of course, it is only January, what really matters is March. By blasting the Purdue Boilermakers 87-64, however, the Buckeyes let it be known they won’t let their #1 ranking go to their heads.
Six Buckeyes scored in double-figures, led by William Buford’s 19 points. Buford was 5-6 from deep as the Buckeyes shot 11-19(57.9%) from downtown. Jared Sullinger scored a quiet 17 points to go along with 7 rebounds and Jon Diebler added 13 points for Ohio State who moved to 21-0, 8-0 in the Big Ten.
Ohio State started the game on a 19-5 run and never were really challenged by Purdue(17-4, 6-2). JaJuan Johnson scored 24 points for the Boilermakers who were never got closer than 18 in the second half.
Ohio State has just one game remaining in January, a road trip to Northwestern on Saturday before coming back home Thursday, February 3 to face Michigan. Purdue will get their home-shot at Ohio State on Sunday, February 20.
