Rumors of Urban Meyer taking over the Ohio State Buckeyes football program forced Meyer to comment while doing color commentary for the Michigan vs. Nebraska game. When the topic came up, Meyer tried to minimize the hype by denying the rumors as reported in a tweet by ESPN's Keri Potts.
Urban Meyer on rumors of OSU job: "I've not been offered any job and certainly have not accepted any job"
With Luke Fickell preparing the Buckeyes to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions this afternoon, it certainly makes sense that Meyer would do his best to downplay any talk of him being the next Ohio State coach. But Meyer's comments do deny the reports that Meyer had already agreed to coach the Buckeyes. Of course, his comments can also be taken literally and still not disprove that he has been offered the job through intermediaries.
At this point, the Meyer-to-Ohio State talk will continue until the head coaching job is settled once and for all, whether that be with Meyer at the helm or not.
