Ohio State Vs. Indiana: Buckeyes Trail 10-7 Through One

Things certainly didn't go Ohio State's way from the opening kickoff. Drew Basil kicked it out of bounds and that set the Hoosiers up at the 40-yard line. What followed was an 11-play drive of 42 yards that ended in a Mitch Ewald 35-yard field goal. On the next possession, the Buckeyes fumbled the ball after a Bobby Richardson sack. Jeff Thomas recovered it and that set up another scoring drive barely five minutes into the game. Six plays later, the Hoosiers punched it in from five yards out and an Ewald extra point made it 10-0.

The Buckeyes immediately put themselves back into it following the Hoosiers scoring drive, though. Braxton Miller took a draw play handoff on a 2nd and 12 from OSU's 19-yard line and took it 81 yards for a touchdown and, following the extra point from Basil, they trailed 10-7. It looked like that run took a little bit out of Indiana, who went three and out on their next possession, hampered by a 10-yard holding penalty on first down.

So Ohio State was driving again - starting from their own 41, they quickly moved into Indiana territory and the quarter came to an end with them set up with a 2nd and 9 at the Indiana 17 yard line.
