The bowl selections will become official on Sunday evening, but it looks as if Ohio State and its large fanbase will be headed to the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL on January 2nd. The Buckeyes must wait to see if a second team from the Big Ten is selected for a BCS bowl, likely the Michigan Wolverines. SB Nation's Bill Connelly expects the Wolverines to go to the BCS, thus opening up the Gator Bowl for Ohio State:
Michigan is 16th, but they should leap both Georgia (if they lose to LSU) and the Michigan State/Wisconsin loser to get to 14th. Meanwhile, Oklahoma is currently 10th, and it is difficult to determine how far they will fall if they lose to Oklahoma State.
Other teams from Ohio are in contention for bowl slots left open by other conferences. Toledo may go tot he Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise to play Utah State, while Ohio is expected to go to the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl in Detroit.
