NCAA Tournament Scores: North Carolina Crushes Marquette In Impressive Fashion

The second set of Sweet 16 games have begin and so far the intrigue is not nearly what we saw on Thursday night. The first final of the night saw the North Carolina Tar Heels crush the No. 11-seed Marquette Golden Eagles 81-63. The difference in the game cam in the first half when Marquette went over 8 minutes without scoring a single point. North Carolina scored 19 straight points to turn a 10-8 deficit into a 27-10 lead and the game was never in doubt after that.

Tyler Zeller scored 27 points to go along with 15 rebounds, while John Henson added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Tar Heels(29-7) Harrison Barnes has 20 for North Carolina as well.

The score at halftime was 40-15 Tar Heels and the final 20 minutes seemed to be go by at a snail’s pace.

Davante Gardner scored 16 points for the Eagles while Jimmy Butler added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Marquette’s season comes to an end at 22-15.

North Carolina will await the winner from tonight’s game between Ohio State and Kentucky.
