2011 Big Ten Tournament Bracket Preview: Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn St. Nittany Lions; Final Record: 16-13 (9-9); #6 Seed in Big Ten

Penn State's season has been an up and down ride to this point. While boasting several quality wins over Big Ten, Penn State has also suffered several "bad losses" which will rule them out for an at-large bid. While finishing the season with a .500 mark in a very tough conference is certainly not a bad season, it remains disappointing to miss out on the NCAA tournament. At this point, winning the Big Ten tournament may be the only way for the Nittany Lions to reach the Big Dance.

Some may give PSU a fighting chance in this tournament due to the fact that the Nittany Lions showed that they were able to remain competitive with the giants of this conference during the regular season. PSU defeated the Michigan St. Spartans, the Illinois Fighting Illini, and the Wisconsin Badgers throughout the year. Penn St. also suffered losses in very close games with against the Purdue and Ohio St

Penn St. will need several big games from senior guard, Talor Battle. Battle leads the Nittany Lions in scoring this year with 20.4 points per game. Penn State plays the Indiana in the first round of the Big Ten tournament, Thursday, March 10th at 7:30 PM ET.
