Ohio State Buckeyes Cruising Over Akron Zips 21-0 At The Half; Alabama Leads Kent St. 24-0

Local teams in action as College Football returns.

A 15-yard Joe Bauserman touchdown run is the only scoring so far as the post-Jim Tressel-era at Ohio State begins in Columbus against the Arkon Zips.  The Buckeyes have dominated play, however, out-gaining the Zips 157-34 through the first 20 minutes of action.

Bauserman is sharp early in his first start of 2011, completing 6/7 passes for 69 yards.  The Buckeyes rushing attack is led by Carlos Hyde's 45 yards on 10 carries and Rod Smith's 39 yards on 7 carries.  The Zips passing attack has been non-existent with Clayton Moore completing 3/5 passes for 5 yards.  Jawon Chisholm leads the Zips' ground attack with 21 yards on 8 carries.

The Kent State Golden Flashes are also in action, on the road against #2-ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  Kent State is still loking for it's initial first down and have been held to -7 yards through the first quarter.  The Crimson Tide have racked up 162 yards of total offense, scoring 3-first quarter touchdowns.
