Terrible news out of Ohio State on Tuesday, as Rob Kunz reports on Twitter that Buckeyes Associate Athletic Director, Bill Jones, passed away from a heart attack at the age of 48. Nothing more is known about the situation at this time, but a statement from the university should be expected at some point in the near future.
Jones was named the associate athletics director for the Buckeyes in 2009. He joined in 1998 as the assistant director of premium seating, and removed the "assistant" title from his name a year later. In 2006 and 2007, he had multiple jobs in ticketing and eventually worked his way up to the associate athletics director.
He also spent time working with the PGA and LPGA, specifically the Memorial Tournament, according to the Buckeyes' official website. Prior to all of this in sports, he worked for a pharmaceutical company, where he earned recognition for being one of the top five sales reps in the country. His alma mater is, of course, Ohio State.
