The Ohio State Buckeyes added some meat to their football schedule Tuesday, as the school announced a home-and-home series has been signed with TCU for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Ohio State will visit TCU on Sept. 15, 2018, then the Horned Frogs will visit Ohio Stadium on Sept. 21, 2019.
The two teams have not played since 1973, with all six of their meetings taking place in Columbus. The Buckeyes have won four of those matchups, and TCU has won only once, in 1937, with a team led by Davey O'Brien.
Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith has said that, with the advent of the new playoff system, his school and the whole Big Ten needs to create stronger schedules. Scheduling a Big 12 opponent that has consistently finished in the rankings and won some BCS bowls in recent years is a good step towards more impressive slates in the future.
