Nebraska vs. Ohio State: Huskers running wild in 1st quarter, lead 14-7

The Nebraska Cornhuskers lead the Ohio State Buckeyes by a touchdown after the 1st quarter from Columbus. The Buckeyes opened the scoring when Bradley Roby returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown, putting the home team up 7-0.

Nebraska responded on the ensuing drive, taking the ball 92 yards down the field to even the game at seven. The Huskers covered most of that ground on a single play, when Rex Burkhead rushed 73 yards to the Buckeye 4-yard line. Two plays later, Ameer Abdullah punched the ball into the end zone to tie it up.

Nebraska forced the Buckeyes to go three-and-out on their next possession, and Abdullah gave the Huskers great field position with a 43-yard punt return to the Ohio State 28. Four plays later, Abdullah put Nebraska ahead, 14-7 with his second rushing score of the quarter.

The Ohio State defense struggled to stop the run in the first quarter, allowing Nebraska to gain 130 yards on the ground. The Buckeyes offense only produced 17 total yards in the same span.
