Unable to take part in Saturday's Big Ten title game due to NCAA sanctions, the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes dropped down two spots to No. 8 overall in SB Nation's latest BlogPoll Top 25 rankings.
The Buckeyes were forced to watch a pair of teams they beat square off for the rights to the 2012 Big Ten Championship trophy over the weekend, and voters opted to place Urban Meyer's squad behind a number of other BCS-bound schools this week for that very reason.
While the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Alabama Crimson Tide remained steady atop the rankings at No.1 and No. 2, respectively, a significant amount of movement took place in the middle of the top 10 to knock the Buckeyes down to No. 8. Despite being one of only three teams to pick up two first-place votes, Ohio State still currently sits below a pair of two-loss schools in both Georgia and Stanford. Unlikely to garner much support from voters without having a chance to get on the field, the Buckeyes will need to hope for a number of key losses in order to gain ground in the final rankings after the bowl season:
