The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Purdue Boilermakers entered halftime tied up at 40-40, but the Buckeyes would be able to do just enough in the second half of the game to secure the 87-84 win over their Big Ten opponent. William Buford slammed down a dunk with just under 45 second left on the play clock to put the Buckeyes up 83-76, forcing Purdue to take a time out and the Boilermakers forcing Ohio State to start making free throws.
The Buckeyes survived the late charge from Purdue and pulled away to improve to 9-2 in the Big Ten. William Buford led the Buckeyes in scoring putting down 29 points, while Jared Sullinger picked up 18 points and 6 rebounds. For the Boilermakers, D.J. Byrd led the way with 24 points and 6 rebounds while Lewis Jackson added 14 points from the bench.
