On Friday, the No. 3 seed Georgetown Hoyas took on the No. 14 seed Belmont Bruins in Columbus in the 2012 NCAA Tournament's Round of 64. The game was dominated by Georgetown from top to bottom, as they enjoyed a comfortable double-digit lead throughout a large portion of play. They eventually managed to advance with a 74-59 win.
The Bruins went on several small runs in the second half, cutting the lead to single-digits before falling behind by 10 or more again and again. The Hoyas played with ease and immense confidence as they held Belmont at bay for the duration of the game. They will play the N.C. State Wolfpack in the Round of 32.
Georgetown guard Jason Clark led all scorers in the game with 21 points.
The Hoyas did receive some bad news during the game, as word came in that Hoyas mascot "Jack," the live bulldog, was at home suffering from a "torn dog ACL." This information was relayed by a sideline reporter in a manner suggesting that it wasn't a joke, but who even knows any more?
