Big Ten Media Days: Buckeyes With Multiple Players On Watch Lists, Do Well In Beat Writer Poll

The Big Ten Media Days are ongoing and there's a lot to be interested in. Ohio St. Buckeyes head football coach Urban Meyer spoke to the media about recruiting and other things, and we've got plenty of other ties to the Buckeyes to take note of. For one, the Big Ten conference revealed their second annual players to watch list. Watch lists are very popular already, so they had to get in on it as well.

For the Big Ten, their watch list is simply a list of five players from the Leaders Division and five players from the Legends division worth keeping an eye on during the 2012 NCAA football season. Land-Grant Holy Land, SB Nation's blog for the Ohio St. Buckeyes, has the watch lists here.

On the list for the Buckeyes are DL John Simon and QB Braxton Miller. It should be very interesting to see how Miller is used in Urban Meyer's system, as he seems to fit what Meyer has shown time and time again he wants in every single way. Joining them from the Leaders division are DT Kawann Short of Purdue, and RB Montee Ball and LB Chris Borland from Wisconsin.

Another thing to coincide with the media day were the picks for the upcoming season from the Big Ten beat writers, from The Hoosier Scoop with a H/T to Land-Grant Holy Land on this one as well. The poll is unofficial, and two beat writers representing each team vote on how they think the season will go.

In the poll, they had Ohio State in second-place, though five of the 24 voters had OSU as the first-place team. Wisconsin is in first place with 19 votes in the top spot, while Purdue, Illinois, Penn St. and Indiana round out the voting. It's worth noting that the poll was before the sanctions against Penn St. were revealed, however.
