No. 14 Ohio St. has a narrow lead over No. 20 Michigan St. through one quarter of play on Saturday, winning by a 7-3 margin. Jordan Hall managed the score for the Buckeyes, bringing in a one-yard rush on second-and-goal. That was the opening possession of the game, with Braxton Miller kicking it off with a 20-yard rush and extending it with a 13-yard rush later on. All-in-all, that drive took them 75 yards in eight plays.
Michigan St. then took over, and managed to get the ball to the Ohio St. 17-yard line before stalling out. Andrew Maxwell threw five-straight passes and Le'Veon Bell rushed twice for a loss of one yard on the drop. Still, three of Maxwell's four completions on the drive were to Bell. Still, they had to settle for a Dan Conroy field goal from 34 yards out to end the drive.
The quarter came to an end after three-straight punts, two from Ohio St. and one from the Spartans. Michigan St. started off the second quarter from their own 37-yard line.
