Ohio State played well in the first half, but couldn't hit a three pointer to save their lives even as they out-rebounded the Spartans and kept themselves low on fouls. Michigan State took advantage and took a lead into halftime, a slim 34-32 advantage.

The second half was a game of runs, with both teams putting together ten point streaks on occasion and gaining decent leads only to see the other team come right back and pick the lead back up for themselves again.

Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, the most important of those streaks was a streak of over five straight minutes where they didn't score a single basket. The Spartan offense continued to be not particularly high scoring but effective during that period, good for the Buckeyes because that kept it a close game going into the final four minutes.

It felt from the start like this would be another classic that would go down to the final possession with the score staying so close all game, and that feeling was proved correct as the final two minutes started to tick away and Michigan State's Draymond Green hit a huge three pointer to make it 67-62. That was the dagger and Ohio State couldn't complete a comeback, eventually losing 68-64.

Ohio State had the far more effective team offense in the game with four different players getting double digit points, but Michigan State's Brandon Wood was a monster with 21 points to carry the Spartans to the victory. Jared Sullinger was the leading scorer for Ohio State with 18 points.

The Ohio State Buckeyes may be trailing the Michigan State Spartans 34-32 at halftime, but they do have the leading scorer in the game so far with William Buford putting together a good first half.

Buford had 4/9 shooting in the first period and was the only player on the court who scored in the double digits, with ten points along with a rebound.

The Buckeyes bench hasn't done all that much to help out Ohio State's chances in this one so they'll need the names like Buford to keep producing if they want to stage a comeback like they did in the last game of the regular season and take home their second straight Big Ten title.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are trailing at the half to the Michigan State Spartans 34-32, but it wasn't for a lack of good basketball. Ohio State out-rebounded the heck out of the Spartans throughout the first half and were able to keep their fouls down as well but a late flurry of points by the Spartans kept them top as the half ended.

Both teams have had their problems, and Ohio State has been particularly bad at shooting three pointers with zero makes from downtown. The Spartans haven't done incredibly well either but do have three makes from past the line out of their chances.

The Buckeyes' William Buford leads all scorers in the game so far with ten points and a rebound. The bench hasn't done much outside of Shannon Scott for Ohio State, who has all four bench points.

After an absoluely thrilling finish from both teams the last time they met on the last day of the regular season, we might just see another wonderful ending to determine who gets the Big Ten championship.

The Ohio State Buckeyes will square off against the Michigan State Spartans today at 3:30 p.m. ET for the Big Ten tournament championship game. The two teams split the regular season series, although Ohio State needed a late and furious rally to overcome Tom Izzo's Spartans in the regular season finale which created a three-way share for the regular season title between Michigan State, Ohio State and Michigan. After beating Michigan yesterday afternoon, the Buckeyes and Michigan State can settle it on the hardwood.

In order for Ohio State to get by Michigan State, though, they'll need to build off what they were able to do in the final minutes of last week's contest. Along the Olentangy, SB Nation's Ohio State blog, says it starts with what killed them in those two regular season games -- Michigan State's frontcourt:

The biggest issue the Buckeyes must overcome is the same one that killed them in the first contest and damaged them in the second: the combined interior size and strength of Draymond Green, 6''7 230lbs, Adreian Payne, 6''10 240 lbs, and Derrick Nix, 6''9 270 lbs. The three monstrous men give Michigan State a slight but significant advantage over Ohio State in offensive rebounding and free throw shooting rate, two of the Four Factors that predict success. Nix, surprisingly, played well against Sullinger on March 4th, holding him to a reasonable 14 points and four offensive rebounds.

After running through the Michigan Wolverines with ease in the semifinals, the Ohio State Buckeyes are just one win away from being crowned Big Ten champs in consecutive seasons.

Ohio State will face Tom Izzo's Michigan State Spartans in Sunday's Big Ten Tournament finale, exactly one week after both teams clashed for the league's regular season title in East Lansing, Michigan. After being held to just 14 points on 5-for-17 shooting a week ago, Buckeyes forward Jared Sullinger has averaged 27 points on 67.7% shooting during the conference tournament.

The two schools split their season series 1-1, and are each setting their sights on possibly garnering a No. 1 seed from the NCAA selection committee later in the evening with a win.

The Ohio State Buckeyes may have lost to the Michigan Wolverines back on Feb. 18, as part of a late-season slump, but when it comes to the Big Ten Tournament - in other words, when it counts - they dominated from start to finish en route to a 77-55 victory. Jared Sullinger scored 24 points with six rebounds, while shooting a stellar 9-for-13 from the field, and dropping in all six of his free throw attempts to lead the way for Ohio State.

Ohio State dominated this one early - taking a commanding 34-21 lead into the second half. They scored 10-straight points at the very beginning of the game to jump ahead and were in control from then on out. There was similar domination in the second half, putting up 43 against Michigan's 34 in that frame. It was domination through and through, with the Buckeyes in control on both sides of the ball.

Deshaun Thomas had a strong day behind Sullinger for the Buckeyes, with 22 points and shooting 10-of-15 from the field, with two three-pointers on top of that. Michigan was seemingly without Trey Burke all game, who missed all six of his three-point attempts and shot a paltry 1-for-13 from the field. He picked up a couple rebounds, but was also terrible in turnovers (eight, a career-high), and had a measly five points on the night altogether.

Instead, it was Tim Hardaway Jr. who led the way for the Wolverines, though he didn't have much to show for it: shooting 3-for-11 from the field and missing all of his shots from range en route to 13 points, helped along solely by the fact that he saw the free-throw line nine times (and was successful from it seven).

It's the third-straight year that Ohio State has bested Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament, and the wins seem to keep getting better. Next, the Buckeyes will take on Michigan State, who they bested 72-70 in their most recent outing, just a week ago on March 4, though they did lose to them on Feb. 11 by 10 points.

The No 3 seed Ohio State Buckeyes took care of business in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals on Friday thanks to a strong second-half finish, beating the Purdue Boilermakers, 88-71.

Ohio State's win set up a semifinal matchup with the the No. 2 seed Michigan Wolverines. Michigan survived a possible early exit with an exciting overtime win over Minnesota in the quarterfinals. Michigan will look to carry over that momentum into their matchup with the Buckeys.

The rival schools will now square off at Bankers Life Fieldhouse with a chance to advance to the final game and play for an automatic NCAA tournament bid, which should also improve the seeding in the Big Dance for the winner. The two teams each won on their home floor during the conference regular season so the season series will now be decided on a neutral floor with a shot at the Big Ten Tournament championship at stake.

The 2012 Big Ten Tournament bracket remains clean without an upset among the top seeds. After the Ohio State Buckeyes put away the Purdue Boilermakers on Friday night, all four top seeds that earned a bye in the tournament had won to advance to the semifinals on Saturday.

That doesn't mean it was easy for the top seeds. The Buckeyes will face the No. 2 seed Michigan Wolverines who needed a late three-pointer to push their game with Minnesota to overtime before eventually winning.

No. 1 seed Michigan State rolled through Iowa and will face No. 4 Wisconsin. The Badgers led throughout their game against Indiana but needed seven three-pointers and 30 points from reserve Rob Wilson, only his second double-figure scoring game of the season.
