Rookie Kyrie Irving provided his third game-winning shot of the season for the 14-win Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets.

With the Cavs down one, Irving took the ball after the inbounds with about 12 seconds remaining in the game. Irving then took it coast-to-coast and finished with a cool and collected up-and-under reminiscent of a wily veteran guard, not a 19-year-old kid.

Irving's game-winning layup helped the Cavs snap a six-game losing streak. He scored 14 of his 18 points in the game in the second half -- 10 of those points coming in the final three minutes of the game.

The Cleveland Cavaliers came into Denver losers of a season-high six straight games and 10-point underdogs on Wednesday night. Thanks to Antawn Jamison and No. 1 overall pick in last year's draft Kyrie Irving, the Cavaliers were able to leave the Pepsi Center with a 100-99 win.

Antawn Jamison scored 26 points in the first half on 8-for-13 shooting, helping the Cavaliers to a two-point halftime lead. He would finish with 33 points. In the second half, the rookie Irving took over, scoring 14 of his 18 points, 10 of those coming in the final three minutes. With four seconds left in the game and the Cavs down one, it was Irving's driving layup that provided the Cavs their 14th win of the season.

Al Harrington led the Nuggets with 22 points off the bench.

Cleveland will look to build off Irving's third game-winner this season when they return to the hardwood at Oklahoma City on Friday.

Losers of six straight, the Cleveland Cavaliers entered Wednesday night's game in Denver -- the back-end of a back-to-back -- as 10-point dogs. At the half, thanks to the strong play of Antawn Jamison, the Cavaliers find themselves up by two, 57-55.

Jamison poured in 26 first half points behind 8-for-13 shooting. Rookie Kyrie Irving assisted seven Cavs' baskets and Alonzo Gee contributed 10 points. Jamison scored 14 of the first 18 points for the Cavs and added another 12 points in the second quarter.

Denver, who has led by as many as nine in the game, is benefitting from 50-percent shooting. They are being led by Al Harrington, who has 12 points off the bench on 5-for-9 shooting.

March has started like a lion for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Their losing streak that started late in February continues into the year’s third month. The Cavs will hope to right the ship on the road Wednesday night with a game against the Denver Nuggets.

Kyrie Irving, February’s Rookie of the Month, continues his torrid pace. He scored 22 points in the Cavs’ Monday loss to the Jazz. It was the second game in a row that Irving topped the 20-point mark.

Game Time: 9:00 p.m. Eastern

Location: Pepsi Center, Denver, CO

TV: Fox Sports Ohio

Radio: WTAM 1100

Fear the Sword, SB Nation’s Cavaliers blog, does not predict the Cavs’ skid to end against a tough Denver team. They foresee a 112-95 loss in that game.

If Cleveland cannot get on track against Denver, their next opportunity comes on Friday in Oklahoma City, the last game on a short swing through the West.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have lost six straight games, and face a tough challenge in Denver against the Nuggets to keep it from going to seven straight losses.

Tuesday night's loss to the Utah Jazz for the Cleveland Cavaliers was a standard game for the Cavs this season -- they dropped down quickly to the opposing team and only Kyrie Irving's heroics put them even close to winning, with no sealing the deal this time as they fell for their sixth straight loss. They can bring their longest losing streak of 2012 to a close with a win over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.

Unfortunately, Denver probably isn't the team that the Cavs want to face right now. The Nuggets have gotten Danilo Gallinari and Nene recently and have pushed their way to a five game winning streak, looking like the world-beaters that they were in the starting weeks of the season again. Kenneth Faried has put together a surprisingly strong rookie campaign in relief of some of the injured players, leading to what might be a fun to watch rookie matchup between him and Irving on the Cavs side.

Denver has the highest points per average in the league right now with 104.1 per game and have their leading scorer back from injury. All that plus being up at altitude in the Pepsi Center makes Wednesday's game look like a, pardon the pun, uphill mountain for the Cavs as they struggle to push themselves somewhere near a playoff spot.
