The Columbus Crew picked up their first win of the MLS season on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over the Montreal Impact. An early red card by Impact defender Jeb Brovsky forced Montreal into an immediate disadvantage with only ten men on the field, a liability that quickly proved to be overwhelming for the expansion team.

As expected, the one-man advantage afforded Columbus plenty of scoring opportunities right away, but it wasn't able to break free until a converted penalty shot in the 30th minute by Milovan Mirosevic broke the scoreless tie. The Crew then added a second goal on a header in the 66th minute to pull away, and never allowed the Impact to get anything going at the other end.

Next up, Columbus will suit up to face a winless Toronto FC squad (0-2) on the road.

Two weeks after dropping their season opener, the Columbus Crew return to the pitch to host the Montreal Impact in their home-opener at the Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Oh. (4 p.m. ET on Fox Sports Ohio). The Crew (0-1) opened their season almost two weeks ago with a 2-0 loss to the Colorado Rapids, while the Impact (0-1-1) have already played two games but have to yet earned a victory.

On March 10, the Rapids used goals in the 44th and 89th minute, and a solid defensive effort to down the Crew. During the week off, Columbus played a pair of exhibition games against college teams, earning a 5-1 victory over Michigan State and a 1-0 win over West Virginia.

Meanwhile, the Impact failed to hold on to a 1-0 advantage against the Chicago Fire last Saturday. The Fire trailed by just a tally and knotted the contest with a goal in the 71st minute.

Currently, the Impact are in third place in the Eastern Conference standings, which features the Sporting Kansas City and Houston Dynamo a top with two victories.
