The Cleveland Cavaliers fell to 17-29 on the season after a frustrating 108-83 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon. In a game that had blowout written all over it, the Cavs shot a mere 38.6% as a team and were ice cold from the perimeter in the defeat.

The Suns, paced by 18 first half points from center Marcin Gortat, grabbed an early lead that they never relinquished. As we've come to expect, Phoenix veteran floor general Steve Nash attempted just two field goals throughout the game, but still was the most important player on the floor and controlled the flow with 13 assists.

Cleveland rookie Kyrie Irving committed five of his squad's 22 turnovers on the day in addition to a team-high 16 points. Ball security remains a problem for the talented Irving, as he managed to turn it over seven times in a loss to Atlanta last Wednesday, and eight in a loss to Milwaukee the previous week.

Cavaliers forward Antawn Jamison left the game with a bruised leg early, but quickly returned in the second quarter. Jamison's minimal impact (two points, 1-for-8 shooting) clearly had an adverse effect on Cleveland's ability to hang with a much more seasoned Suns team.

Staring down the barrel of a three-game losing streak, the Cleveland Cavaliers trail the Phoenix Suns 59-38 at the half in Sunday's game at Quicken Loans Arena. After a moderately-close opening quarter, the Suns turned on the jets in the second to outscore Cleveland 30-18.

Suns center Marcin Gortat has been the story of the afternoon with 18 points and a pair of blocks, as the Cavaliers have been completely unable to keep him contained on the inside. All-Star point guard Steve Nash has also been nearly perfect as a distributor with eight assists and zero turnovers, and has had his way with a lackadaisical Cleveland defense.

Despite having eight separate players reach the scoring column in the first half, the Cavs played much of the first 24 minutes without a consistent scoring option. Star rookie Kyrie Irving leads Cleveland with seven points and four rebounds, but has also coughed the ball up four times and shot just 2-for-6 from the field.

Cavs look to end two-game losing streak.

It will be youth vs. experience when the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon at Quicken Loans Arena.

Cleveland's rookie point guard Kyrie Irving leads the Cavs in scoring with 18.9 points per and plays a big role in every win Cleveland has put together this season as they begin rebuilding around the young player. Irving just turned 20 years old after his birthday on Friday can only hope to have the success and longevity of his opponent on Sunday, 38-year old Steve Nash. When the two teams met in January at Phoenix, Irving showed his stuff with 26 points to lead the Cavs to a win over the Suns despite 16 points and 15 assists from Nash.

Nash continues to produce at a remarkable level while leading a dangerous Suns team that is full of veteran savvy, including 39-year old Grant Hill still making plays on the wing. The Suns are 10-4 in March after Nash tied a season-high with 17 assists in the team's latest win over Indiana on Friday. With a .500 record at 24-24, the Suns remain in the tight Western Conference playoff race, just two games out of the eight spot.

Cleveland is 4-8 in March so far and has lost touch with the playoff race in the Eastern Conference. After working themselves into the conversation at the beginning of the month, too many losses and a resurgent effort by the New York Knicks have the Cavs five games behind the eighth spot.

The game tips off at 3:00 p.m. ET and will be televised on Fox Sports Ohio and NBA TV.
