Big Ten officials reviewed the game tape and they have determined that Michigan State offensive lineman Jack Allen did not attempt to gouge the eye of Ohio State Buckeyes defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins during last Saturday's game.

Big Ten conference officials have review the tape from last week's game between the Michigan State Spartans and Ohio State Buckeyes, and they have determined that MSU offensive lineman Jack Allen did not attempt to gouge the eye of OSU defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins during the game.

The Buckeyes filed a complaint with the Big Ten that included a video of the alleged incident, but the Big Ten announced on Thursday that Allen will not be suspended. Michigan State Athletic Director Mark Hollis explained the ruling in a statement (via Cleveland.com):

"After a thorough review, the Big Ten has determined that MSU offensive lineman Jack Allen didn't violate the conference's Sportslike Conduct Policy," Michigan State Athletic Director Mark Hollis said as part of a statement. "As athletics director, I had an opportunity to be involved in this review process and while his actions weren't a 'football play,' this clearly wasn't an eye-gouging incident."

The Spartans accused OSU and Urban Meyer of handing over game film late and doctoring it, prior to the game last Saturday. The Buckeyes claimed a 17-16 win in that contest.

Ohio State hosts No. 21 Nebraska on Oct. 6. Both teams are currently undefeated in conference play, and the Cornhuskers have suffered only one loss on the season.

Ohio State will play TCU in a home-and-home series beginning in 2018

The Ohio State Buckeyes added some meat to their football schedule Tuesday, as the school announced a home-and-home series has been signed with TCU for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Ohio State will visit TCU on Sept. 15, 2018, then the Horned Frogs will visit Ohio Stadium on Sept. 21, 2019.

The two teams have not played since 1973, with all six of their meetings taking place in Columbus. The Buckeyes have won four of those matchups, and TCU has won only once, in 1937, with a team led by Davey O'Brien.

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith has said that, with the advent of the new playoff system, his school and the whole Big Ten needs to create stronger schedules. Scheduling a Big 12 opponent that has consistently finished in the rankings and won some BCS bowls in recent years is a good step towards more impressive slates in the future.

Ohio St. has sent in a video of a Michigan St. player allegedly gouging the eyes of a Buckeyes player through his facemask, and has reportedly filed an official complaint with the Big Ten.

Well, it didn't take long for Ohio St. to fire back at Michigan St. with a complaint of their own, following allegations thatUrban Meyer's team handed over game film late and, on top of that, doctored it beforehand. Now, the Buckeyes have turned in a video to the Big Ten in which a Michigan St. player appears to gouge the eyes of an Ohio St. player, according to the Detroit Free Press.

In the video, which the Detroit Free Press included in their report, you can see Spartans offensive lineman Jack Allenput his fingers into Ohio St. defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins' facemask. Of course, this occurred after Hankins had Allen by the facemask, so everything that happens is a little unclear at this point.

We've got the video embed below, though it looks as though it's some kind of low quality camera pointed at some kind of low quality TV. Hankins is the player on the bottom of the pile.

A staffer from Urban Meyer's time at Florida says that he never saw anybody doctoring film.

Over the weekend, reports surfaced saying Ohio State got its game film to Michigan State late and that the Spartans at one point had found the film to be doctored in some way. Jeremy Fowler of CBS Sports is now reporting that a former Florida staffer has said that he never saw this happen at Florida while Meyer was in charge:

I spoke with a former Florida staffer who said "never once" did he see the Gators doctoring opponent's game tape. Meyer told the Free-Press he wasn't involved.

The report goes on to note that such a thing is not unheard of, and that it's not always something that a head coach has anything to do with.

According to the piece, an assistant coach from an AQ conference told Fowler that video coordinators have the tendency to send very small sample sizes in their game tape, which does meet the definitions of "doctoring."

Athletic directors from both schools met and resolved the issue, according to the Free Press on Saturday.

Quarterback Braxton Miller led the Ohio State Buckeyes to a 17-16 win over Michigan State Saturday.

Miller passed for 179 yards, ran for 135 and his 63-yard touchdown pass to Devin Smith with 3:43 left in the third quarter proved to be the decisive score in the game.

Ohio State took a 7-0 lead early on a 1-yard touchdown run by Jordan Hall. Michigan State responded with a field goal to make it 7-3 on its opening drive, but both teams were scoreless the rest of the half.

The teams traded field goals on the opening drives of the third quarter. Michigan State briefly led when Andrew Maxwell threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Keith Mumphery in the third quarter prior to Miller's touchdown pass to Smith. Michigan State added a field goal early in the third quarter.

Box Score Heroes: Braxton Miller made big plays in the passing game and the running game. He rushed 23 times for 135 yards and was 16-for-23 passing for 179 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also ran for a big first down on Ohio State's final clock-killing drive.

Andrew Maxwell and the Michigan State passing game looked comfortable for the first time this season. He completed 22-of-42 passes for 269 yards and a touchdown. Defensive back Kurtis Drummond had a big day defensively, intercepting a pass and recovering a fumble.

Rankings Ramifications: Ohio State remains undefeated and a win over a ranked opponent could boost them higher than their No. 14 position. Michigan State is likely to fall out of the rankings after their second loss of the season.

But Did They Cover? There was no opening line in the game.

Next Week's Schedule: Michigan State travels to Indiana at noon Oct. 6. Ohio State hosts Nebraska at 8 p.m. Oct. 6.

After a slow first half, the Ohio St. Buckeyes and Michigan St. Spartans have both picked things up in the second.

No. 14 Ohio St. holds a 17-13 lead over the Spartans heading into the fourth quarter, after both teams managed to put up 10 points in the third. Andrew Maxwell managed a 29-yard touchdown to Keith Mumphery to give Michigan St. a 13-10 lead, but Braxton Miller one-upped him with a 63-yard strike to Devin Smith that went for 6.

Michigan St. managed an impressive 50-yard field goal from Dan Conroy on their first possession of the second half to make it 7-6. That drive was helped along by a defensive holding call on Ohio St., and a 35-yard reception by Bennie Fowler from Maxwell. The Buckeyes answered back with a 13-play, 66-yard drive that ended in a Drew Basil field goal from 26 yards out.

Maxwell is out-gunning Miller, with 237 yards and a touchdown, though Miller has added 98 yards on the ground to his 157 yards through the air. If Michigan St. manages to lose this one, it will likely come down to the stat line of running back Le'Veon Bell, who has carried 13 times for just 35 yards heading into the fourth quarter.

No. 14 Ohio St. is facing potentially their toughest test of the season yet in No. 20 Michigan State, but they're handling it well with a 7-3 lead at the half. It's closer than they'd like, of course, but they managing Le'Veon Bell on defense and that has the Spartans unable to gain any significant traction. Bell has just 24 yards off of eight carries, though he's pulled down six receptions for 44 yards as well.

Unfortunately for them, Michigan State is managing to contain quarterback Braxton Miller as well. He's still making plays out there, but he's been held back from making those explosive plays he's become known for under Urban Meyer. He's got 12 keepers for 65 yards and has been accurate through the air, with eight completions off of 11 attempts. One of those three incompletes was an interception, though.

The interception came at a poor time, too, as the Buckeyes were in Michigan St. territory at that point. Miller had either kept it or thrown for all eight plays on that drive, and Kurtis Drummond got his hands on one of the passes for the pick. Late in the first half, Michigan State had a punt blocked, but Miller fumbled on the second drive of the ensuing possession to give the ball right back. Conroy went on to miss a 42-yard field goal for the Spartans, keeping the score at 7-3.
